Festina Lente

Wood, paint fishing line

In the Italian Garden is part of an old sundial on a plinth. In celebration of the sundial I have hung Latin inscriptions found on sundials, with English translations on the walls around the garden. The inscriptions speak about time, the movement of the sun, of shadows, of mortality and eternity.

Caroline Bagenal is a sculptor who lives in Newburyport. She is a member of the Boston Sculptors Gallery, where her next exhibition is from Oct. 2-Nov. 3, 2019.
