About the Sculpture at Maudslay Show
Outdoor Sculpture at Maudslay is a long running public outdoor exhibition of Sculpture held at Maudslay State Park.
The show brings the art of local artists to people in a public space, and provides artists with a chance to create artwork for their community.
The show happens in the fall, and is open and free to the public.
Applications are available in the spring, with a May deadline for submissions. Both experienced and new artists may submit proposals, and artists should have a connection to the North Shore or Merrimack Valley area.
Each sculpture’s subject matter must be suitable for the general public, meet safety guidelines, and not harm the park environment.
Artists are also encouraged to help with the organization of the show.
We hope to create a show of works that show the human creative spirit. The exhibit is not juried: it is open to artists of all ages and experience levels. Since the show is not juried, it provides an opportunity for artists from the community to create art in a supportive community and to exhibit to a wide audience.
We encourage interested artists to develop their talents, and we help less experienced artists as needed. We encourage artists to create site-specific works; designed to work with and respond to the particular site within Maudslay where they are built.
