The Unity of Soul

In the Sufi tradition, the human heart is a fathomless well, capable of containing the divine attributes of God. The spiritual journey is a process of thinning the ego-self, which like a shell around the heart, is hardened by attachments to what is temporal. Thinning this shell allows the ruh, the pure light of the soul, to shine divine love and unity out of the heart and into the world. This opening of the heart is a state of unity of the soul, with the ego-self and the divine.

Anthony Farenwald is a multimedia artist and filmmaker who works at the intersection of non-fiction and the surreal. His work explores experiences with the sublime and seeks to conjure the sacred.
