Flagship for Conservation

Wool, polyfill

Turtles are icons in both mythology and religion in almost every culture around the world. They have been characterized as a symbol of wisdom, knowledge, strength and creation. The connection between humans and turtles has long endured, is varied, and robust throughout the world. It is no coincidence that today turtles serve as a “flagship species for conservation” around the world.

Susan Gately is a fiber artist whose exhibited works include needle, wet and nuno-felted objects, wall hangings and sculptures.
